I am a huge fan of MAC cosmetics, From their foundations, to their bronzers ,eyeliners and lipsticks there has to be something for everyone. I know it can be and expensive trip every time you go into a MAC counter but I always feel that it is worth it. Most of the time the product will last a long time therefore they are worth every penny!! I have a few products that I find I always have to repurchase when I have run out.
- Strobe Cream
This is hands down my favourite product. On days I don’t wear make up I must have this cream on me. Strobe cream is a nice quick fix. It gives the skin a gorgeous healthy glow. When a certain light hits a high point on our face the strobe cream gives a gorgeous radiance.
What’s better is that you can buy a 30ml travel size for only €10. It works out cheaper to get 3 small travel sizes than 1 50ml size which they sell for €34. A lot of people would use this under their foundation for a glow,I only find this works if you apply a very light layer of foundation. Otherwise the foundation just covers it. None the less this is my favourite MAC product. I’d buy 10 of these every trip if I have €100 handy! You can purchase online here.
2. Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation
This foundation was my favourite to wear all summer and even now coming into the winter I love it. I don’t think its just a summer foundation, I want glowy skin all year-long so I really like this. This is a waterproof foundation meaning it shouldn’t budge if you happen to get rained on or whatever may be. I think it lasts really well on the face. It says it has staying ability of about 16 hours. It probably doesn’t stay perfect for 16 hours but it is close enough to it.
I find this so nice to apply. I usually use a damp beauty blender and it goes on very smoothly. It is a lot more lightweight in my opinion than the likes of Studio Fix or Sculpt. It feels very ‘healthy’ almost on your skin. It gives a medium to full coverage depending on the build up. I genuinely really love it.
The only thing is I would get a sample and test colours first. I bought NC30 thinking it would be as dark as Studio Fix but was too light for when I had fake tan on,saying that it ended up being great for during the day. I ended up buying NC37 for night’s out and it was perfect for nights out.
Available here online for €36.50.
3. Mac Eye Kohl
There are two Eye Kohl pencil’s from MAC that I adore. One being black ‘Smoulder‘ and the other being brown ‘Teddy’. Everyone should have a black eyeliner pencil in their make up bags. I am obsessed with this one mainly because when I apply it into my water line it smudges out excellently. To create a flawless smokey eye, the bottom of the eye is just as important as the top. For me, the application of Smoulder Eye Kohl is the difference between a good smokey eye and a mediocre one.
Smoulder has a matte finish, there is no glitter to it. I usually apply on the upper lash line and lower lash line & then smudge it out with a flat smudge brush. Smoulder blends so well. I am obsessed with it.
Teddy is the brown one of the Kohl pencils. There is a pearl finish to it meaning there is a bit of a glitter tint. I use this in two ways. Firstly as an eyeliner in the lower lash line. A brown is nice here if you don’t want too much of a harsh look. This always is nice for an older lady.
Teddy is also gorgeous all over the lid blended out with an eyeshadow. I often do this and blend it out with Texture eyeshadow, which is a warm orangey tone. Then I would pop some ‘Antiqued’ eyeshadow on top of the Teddy pencil. It’s a really quick and easy eye look.
They’re available to buy here for €18.50 each.
4. Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Medium Deep / Give Me Sun )
This is a go to product for me after applying my foundation and Laura Mercier setting powder. I love both Medium Deep and Give Me Sun just as much. Give me Sun is a bitter orange toned. Now it won’t leave you looking orange but super bronzed. Medium Deep is a bit more subtle. but still as fab.
These powders are matte and can also be used to just set your foundations. They come in a whole load of shades. I love these powders and they never leave my face looking really ‘cakey’. They also last a really long time (unless you smash it – always happens to me) so I really think these powders are worth buying.
They are available to buy here for €31.50 and have a look at all the different shades so you find one to suit you.
I could be here all day writing about all the products I love but these are the ones that stand out for me. Have you tried any?
